My Inspiration

Montessori homeschooling

What is your inspiration?

Is it something that others find hard to understand? Perhaps you keep something close to your chest because you like it that way. For me it’s my daughter. It’s her faith in my ability, and my desire to give her everything in my power to help her live a happy life

You know, it’s never easy to be an outsider even if you know you’re doing the right thing. Here in the UK, Montessori homeschooling is less commonplace than in other parts of the world, and often I get blank stares when people ask why my child isn’t at the local state school. There are a couple of things that spring in to my mind in these situations but largely, those thoughts stay private! I’ve tried explaining to people what Montessori represents, but often people who have no genuine interest in what I’m saying will glaze over or interrupt with their personal opinions.

But what this comes down to is what’s best for MY child. I am solely responsible for taking care of her and giving her a solid grounding for her life ahead. The choices I make are those which I believe will do exactly that. Not only is she receiving an education which excites her and makes the world around her fall into place, but she’s also learning how to to treat people with respect, take care of her environment and that of our planet.

I can’t see how there is a better option for us.

Inevitably, I come across obstacles. Being a single mother and running a business can have challenges but guess what… my daughter sees me working for our home, health and wealth and tells me she’s proud of me. Hearing your child tell you this, brings tears to your eyes and is somewhat humbling and inspirational.

I guess that’s what I’m saying, my child is my inspiration for living every day to the best of my ability.

On days when I feel tired and consider other options, she reminds me of why I don’t have a full time job, “but we’d never see each other, Mummy.”

It’s enough to kick me sharply back into action!

Although I’m only writing a short post today it’s an important one. I want this blog to be somewhere for you to come and feel part of something.  The key is for me is to be honest and open with every one of my readers. The website is a place where I share my thoughts, struggles and successes as well as giving my fellow parents and educators a little help along the way.

Authenticity is the best thing I can give you, and I hope that it forms the foundation of trust.

That’s all for today. It’s brief, and it’s off the cuff, but it’s me.

Thank you for reading. I’d love you to join our mailing list if this gave you something to think about, or just a little bit of your own inspiration.

Have a great day,

E
